Abstract :
Future mobile communication system will provide services to users worldwide. It is essential to define efficient medium access control (MAC) protocols that is suitable for both terrestrial and satellite systems. A modified packet reservation multiple access protocol in hindering state (PRMA-HS) protocol is proposed for the low Earth orbit mobile satellite systems (LEO-MSS). The equilibrium point analysis (EPA) method is used to verify the performance and the simulation is completed at the same time. A performance comparison between the PRMA-HS and the MPRMA-HS has shown very promising results in terms of both the packet drop probability and throughput.
