Abstract :
An excellent switch fabric is an important component of any high speed IP switching router, for it determines the throughput and switch capacity of the whole system. We first introduce the hardware design of the switch fabric in our core router, then describe in detail the implementation of the switch board, the high-speed serial back-plane, and the IP packet queuing and scheduling module. We present performance measurement results.
