Abstract :
An Er3+/Yb3+ codoped phosphate glass waveguide amplifier is reported here, which is fabricated by Ag+,K+-Na+ ion exchange and the process is demonstrated. This channel glass waveguide amplifier produces a net gain of ∼2.1 dB/cm with an input signal wavelength of 1.55 μm at an input power of -30 dBm for 110 mW of 980 nm pump power.
