Abstract :
A new wavelet coding method for network based on EZW is introduced. This algorithm deals with coefficient according to its importance by hierarchical quantization, hierarchical encoding and hierarchical transmission. Its decoding precision can be controlled both by T and by hierarchy. Shown by experiment, the performance of this method is similar to the EZW algorithm with the same compression ratio, but its efficiency is greater than EZW. It is suitable for the network to some extent.
