Abstract
In this paper we propose a new 3D image reconstruction method based on a simplified self-calibration model. Given the coordinates of the principal point, Kruppa equations are employed to compute the initial value of intrinsic parameters. Then with the analysis of the variance of the fundamental matrix expression, a new criterion is obtained to estimate the intrinsic parameters and motion parameters of a camera, which are used for 3D reconstruction. Experiments with both synthetic data and real images show that the method is more robust and the computation can be simplified greatly.
