Abstract
Surface modeling from 3D unorganized points is of great importance in variable fields such as computer vision, image based modeling, scientific computing visualization, etc. In this paper we present a new algorithm based on the Hugues Hoppe algorithm. First these points are divided into logical cubes whose size is decided automatically from the unorganized points. Then the tangent planes and normal vectors at each point are calculated and the normal vectors are orientated to the outside of surface based on WFS. Finally the surface model of triangular meshes can be obtained by the output of marching cubes. Experimental results show the high efficiency of the algorithm.
