Abstract :
In this paper, we outline work in progress towards the formulation and solution of a problem of control over a free space optical communication channel subject to atmospheric turbulence. One consequence of atmospheric turbulence is the random spatial (and slow temporal) variation of the refractive index along optical paths, leading to incoherent wave fronts at the receiving end and hence bit errors. This work is centered around estimating the effect of atmospheric turbulence to effectively close feedback loops over such a channel.
