Abstract
This paper describes a new weighting sub-system for fruit sorting and grading machinery. Based on a fixed point DSP, it controls up to 10 lines at 20 fruit/second with an accuracy of ±1 gram. The system applies an adaptive filtering and a posterior deconvolution of the behaviour of the load sensor using an ARMA model. A final estimation procedure to obtain weight in grams is also described. The best results have been obtained with an ALMS algorithm for the adaptive filter.
