Abstract
A two-dimensional (2D) finite-difference time-domain (FDTD) algorithm is presented for the frequency dependent parameter extraction of on-chip interconnects. The principle of the alternating direction implicit (ADI) technique that has been used in formulating an unconditionally stable 2D FDTD is applied. Unlike the conventional 2D ADI-FDTD method, however, the complex propagation constant is involved in the novel 2D ADI-FDTD algorithm. Numerical results are presented to demonstrate the effectiveness and efficiency of this method.
