Abstract :
Both Bluetooth (BT) and IEEE 802.11b for wireless local area network (WLAN) are important standards for short-range wireless communications. Video transmission techniques with BT modules can be used in PDA, notebooks, and other wireless equipments with displaying devices. Unfortunately, BT and WLAN share the same ISM (Industrial, Scientific, Medical) band, resulting in a co-channel interference problem. We evaluate and attempt to improve the quality degradation of H.263 video transmitted in BT packets under the interference of WLAN. Simulation results show that different interference effects are obtained for different packet sizes and signal to interference and noise ratios, resulting in different video quality. Finally, a simple error concealment technique is used to improve the received video quality of the worst case by about 3 dB.
