Abstract
At Fraunhofer ISE a number of key issues are addressed in the area of crystalline silicon solar cell technology with specific targets and milestones for the years to come. The present paper provides an overview of some of the achievements and describes the road to follow for the most important topics in this area. The proposed 50 μm wafer solar cell technology leads to the possibility to use electronic rather than solar grade silicon feedstock and still meet future cost goals.
