Abstract :
Extending the TCP (transmission control protocol) to the wireless domain is a hot research topic at the present time. It is also implemented in a long round-trip delay, e.g., satellite channel. Performance degradation due to the TCP´s misinterpretation of corruption loss as congestion loss has been reported in the literature. This paper proposes a threshold-based TCP to prevent it from reacting to cell losses due to corruption, that is, channel error. It is demonstrated through numerical experiments that the proposed scheme can effectively mitigate the negative impact of wireless channel errors on the performance of TCP.
