Abstract
This paper presents a software based link simulation tool. It has been developed for protocol and network application design. The tool has been implemented in Microsoft Windows 2000 environment. The simulation tool provides configurable simulation architecture, where network consists of nodes connected to each other with links. Different parameters can be used to simulate link properties, including error probability, delays, protocol stack overhead, and error recovery. Real measurements of wireless local area networks (WLAN) and Bluetooth networks are used for tool verification. When configuring simulation parameters, the desired real-world situation can be modeled.
