Abstract :
Location updating is an important issue in the cellular communication systems. Distance-based location update strategy has been shown to outperform other location update strategies. The challenge encountered is the implementation of the strategy. A scheme for implementing the distance-based location update scheme has been introduced. The scheme is based on cell code assignment. A code generation method has been proposed for homogeneous cell patterns and distance threshold up to 6 rings.
