Abstract
This paper provides an overview of a new low-power undersea telemetry network. The discussion includes telemetry architecture, design strategies that emphasize small size and low power consumption, as well as system design aspects such as fault tolerance and legacy system interoperability. Distance versus bandwidth for various transport media is also discussed. Key technology enablers are identified such as a reconfigurable network processors and low-power design techniques.
