Abstract
We have developed high-speed infrared radiation thermometry techniques for measuring thermal diffusivity, thermal conductivity and specific heat capacity for solids with the laser flash method. Single- and multiple-element radiation thermometers have been constructed with an InSb detector which is cooled by liquid nitrogen and operated in dc-mode. Photovoltaic MCT (HgCdTe) thermometers also have been developed for near or sub-ambient temperature for a periodic heating method. The time response measured is fast enough up to 100 kHz or more. Calibrations for the temperature scale have been made for the range from 0°C up to 200°C within the accuracy of 0.2 K.
