Abstract :
Our knowledge about the magnetic and ion-optical properties of the 100-keV electron cooler operational in the synchrotron accelerator and storage ring COSY-Jülich was improved by calculating and analyzing three-dimensional finite-element models. Old measurements of characteristic field properties are in very good agreement with the values deduced from the field data. Ion trajectory calculation results needed for correcting the orbit distortions due to the electron cooler magnets are described.
