Abstract
In this paper, reduced state sequence estimation (RSSE) for EDGE system is described. A significant issue associated with soft information generation for the RSSE receiver is discussed in detail. Several practical algorithms that calculate soft values efficiently are given. The performance of these algorithms is evaluated through computer simulation and compared with the performance of a more complex decision feedback sequence estimation (DFSE) receiver.
