Abstract :
This paper introduces the migration path from Global System for Mobile Communications (GSM) General Packet Radio Service (GPRS) to 3G multimedia services, and provides insight into certain issues regarding the direction for its standardization within the 3rd Generation Partnership Project (3GPP) Technical Specifications Group (TSG) referred to as GPRS/Enhanced Data for Global Evolution (EDGE) Radio Access Network or GERAN.
