Abstract :
A low power consumption monolithic LC-tank voltage controlled oscillator (VCO) fabricated in a mixed-signal/RF 0.25μm CMOS technology is presented. The VCO is implemented with one completely symmetrical spiral inductor, and shows a phase noise under -119 dBc/Hz at a 1 MHz offset frequency across the whole operating band. The proposed VCO, with wide tuning range and small silicon size, is well suitable for the system integration of wireless systems such as Bluetooth and DECT.
