  • Abstract
In the framework of the research project "light and low noise freight wagon bogie LEILA DG", an innovative bogie for freight wagons is developed and equipped with a life cycle unit (LCU). The LCU enables the acquisition of operational parameters and the stress acting on wear components. The data can be used for the actual assessment of the bogie components life span and facilitate a more efficient maintenance. In this contribution, an approach for the life span determination of cylinder roller bearings for bogies is presented. This approach is based on equations for the dimensioning of bearings. The life spans of bearings under various stress cases are compared.
