Abstract
With the rapid growth of wireless networks and demand for services, wireless data broadcast has become a fundamental communication mechanism to enhance the services in ad hoc network of pervasive devices. This work focuses on developing data broadcast service models in a multihop ad hoc network environment. In particular, two such models are proposed for the service proxies, namely, passive proxy and semipassive proxy, while the analysis is carried based on the underlying assumptions. In addition, performance measures are introduced, and subsequently analyzed via explicit calculation and simulations. Numerical experiments show that the proposed hybrid semipassive model outperforms the passive model in terms of resource utilization and propagation delay. It provides a justifiable solution to furnish efficient data broadcast with certain QoS criteria. Finally, a sensitivity analysis is conducted to determine the sensitivity of the network performance with respect to the model assumptions.
