Abstract
In this paper, we propose a novel error control scheme. The scheme, also known as hybrid dynamic packet shuffling (HOPS), consists of three parts: hybrid unequal error protection (HUEP), dynamic packet length adjustment and packets shuffling. HUEP with adaptive parity codes can correct bit error in short time with controllable redundancy. Dynamic packet length adjustment module is a mechanism to generate different size packets along with the varying network situation. The main idea of packets shuffling is to tradeoff continuous error (the unacceptable bursty error) against average error (the acceptable error). Simulation results indicate that these three modules maintain an acceptable video quality at very high rate of bursty error without retransmission.
