Abstract
This paper analyzes rigorously the coherent quantum information, which plays an important role in quantum information processing (quantum data processing inequality) and in quantum cryptography. We give a very brief and elegant proof for the quantum data processing inequality. We show however that the quantity is not positive in general, but positivity can be shown for pure state systems and also for classical systems. Finally, we prove that the quantity is continuous in the quantum operations.
