Abstract
It is noted that the trial of reformation of the deterministic LQ problem with output feedback as an H2 problem, by using the method described in [A. Saberi, P. Sannuti, B. M. Chen, 1995], is unsuccessful. This view is justified and supported by an example. Next, another formulation of this problem is proposed and illustrated. The problem of zero initial condition of the dynamic LQ regulator resulting from the assumption made in H2 approach is also discussed. Especially, the impracticality associated with this assumption is noticed and justified.
