Abstract
On the supply chain, Web-based product information retrieval systems should be locally contextual, responsive, and evolution-prone. This paper presents an approach to the design and development of such an information retrieval system. By taking advantage of radio frequency identification technology, an individual product can be globally identified and tracked. When the locality information of an individual product is embedded in its identity tag, the precise and pertinent service of a product can be instantly delivered to its user as requested. Product context spaces based product life cycles are proposed. A responsive information server can be accordingly constructed.
