Abstract :
The impact of digital relays in the protection of industrial electric power systems is analyzed in this paper. The interaction of digital relays with other industry devices such as sensors and programmable logical controllers is described, including some information about the data networks that are used in industry. An example of this interaction is also presented showing how a digital relay can work together with programmable logical controller to protect a large motor.
