Abstract :
Adaptive transceivers can significantly reduce the energy consumption of a mobile, battery-powered node by capturing real-time changes in the communication channel. This paper proposes a game-theoretic solution to the optimization of the energy consumption in wireless transceivers. This is accomplished by dynamically adapting the modulation level of the transmitter modulator and the error correction aptitude of the receiver decoder with respect to channel conditions subject to specified average bit-error-rate and throughput constraints. Experimental results demonstrate energy savings of up to 15%.
