Abstract
The effect of mutual coupling and correlated fading on a receive diversity system employing a compact linear array of dipoles and noisy channel estimates is studied analytically in this paper. For a compact antenna array, the system performance depends on the interplay between diversity and mutual coupling, and it may not always improve with the addition of an antenna element in the presence of mutual coupling.
