Abstract
The wavelet transform is used to detect and measure singularities of transients in vibration signal generated by faults in a rolling element bearing. The mathematical characterization of singularities with Lipschitz exponents is introduced. Then a method for fault diagnosis by computing local Lipschitz exponents from the wavelet transform modulus maxima is provided. Finally, some experimental results from rolling element bearing tests are presented.
