Abstract :
A joint receiving scheme of RAKE combining and soft-output Viterbi equalization for low spreading factor wideband DS-CDMA systems is proposed in this paper. The equalization technique based on soft-output Viterbi algorithm (SOVA) is applied to symbol sequences after RAKE combining to effectively eliminate the multi-path interference (MPl) and inter-symbol interference (ISI) during transmission of high rate data in wideband DS-CDMA systems, which provides significant improvement over conventional RAKE receiver.
