Abstract :
A new method for the stabilization of the slotted ALOHA protocol is presented in this paper. The approach is based on a modified stochastic gradient adaptation equation that updates from time-slot to time-slot the permission probability parameter that limits the load going onto the channel. Tested in the context of the simple slotted ALOHA protocol and then extended to a spread slotted ALOHA system, the new method achieves a near optimal performance with a substantially reduced complexity, as compared to other stabilization methods.
