Abstract :
In this paper we propose an analytical approach, to provide a statistical method for estimating WCDMA downlink capacity. Starting from the model proposed in [H. Holma et al., 2001] and [K. Sipila et al., May 2000]. which has been illustrated in [C. Balzanelli et al., September 2003], we have provided an analytical extension to define capacity from a statistical point of view. The new results obtained from this improvement, have been compared with those obtained by a more complex semi-analytical model, proposed in [C. Balzanelli et al., September 2003], taking a scenario composed of many hexagonal cells, positions of users and a more precise path loss model into account. The comparison between this different approaches has pointed out similar results, in terms of capacity curves.
