Abstract :
Future wireless communications systems are required to efficiently utilize the limited wireless spectrum resource due to the rapidly growing demands for services, packetized transmission over wireless link makes it possible to achieve a high statistical multiplexing gain. Previous MAC protocols pay more attention to maximizing system performance with guaranteed quality of service (QoS). This article presents a channel-hold- based reservation (CHBR) MAC protocol that deals with the tradeoff between system performance and system overhead. The performance evaluation is conducted by simulation with different parameters.
