Abstract
The design of microwave monolithic integrated circuits (MMICs) requires the exact full-wave modelling of the electromagnetic field in the semiconductor and insulator regions as well as within the conductor layers. The transverse dimensions of the transmission structures in modern MMICs at frequencies above 10 GHz are comparable to the skin depth. Therefore, an accurate simulation of the electromagnetic field inside the conductors is necessary. The usage of conventional simulation tools is not always efficient. In this paper for full-wave analysis of transmission lines and discontinuities realized in damascene technology we propose the effective hybrid TLM-MM approach.
