Abstract :
A cavity-backed slot antenna is proposed. The antenna is theoretically and experimentally studied. The antenna consists of a slot cut in a ground plane and backed by shorting strips, forming a backing cavity. Experimental studies of the antenna show a 2:1 VSWR input impedance bandwidth of more than 20%. The antenna allows an efficient excitation by a coaxial or a strip line from either side of the ground plane.
