Abstract :
This paper describes the use of power electronics building blocks, PEBBs, configured as ac switches for use in static transfer switch applications. By using a common PEBB, a wide variety of system configurations can be constructed from a small number of PEBBs. The PEBBs are arranged in series to form a number of systems in voltage classes ranging from 5 kV to 38 kV.
