Abstract
In an open access power market, power tracing is a very important issue as it can help allocate the total cost of transmission system usage among market participants as well as provide information on what portion of a load is being supplied by each generator. In this paper, a closed form solution to this problem is presented. This formula is obtained using both proportionality and averaging criteria, and can be used to allocate transmission system costs among users in an equitable and fair way. In comparison to other methods, the formula given in this paper can be applied to large power systems without increasing complexity and the associated computations costs.
