Abstract
MPEG4 is an open standard for the production, delivery and consumption of audiovisual content. The standard is divided into systems, audio and video, of which systems deals with object-based representation of audio-visual content. To facilitate the streaming of such object-based data streams, MPEG4 defines the delivery multimedia integration framework to provide a universal interface with the multitude of transport mechanisms available through open standards, such as RTP/UDP/IP. This paper focuses on the issues involved in the software implementation of MPEG4 systems in a terminal player, and the streaming of MPEG4 content from a server to the terminal player.
