Abstract
This paper proposes a novel control theoretic approach for supporting bandwidth allocation in IEEE 802.11e wireless local area networks (WLANs) with HCF access method. It distributes the limited WLAN capacity by taking into account the desired queueing delay that audio/video applications would expect. The algorithm exploits a proportional controller and feedforward disturbance compensation. The dynamic behavior of the algorithm has been theoretically investigated. Moreover, computer simulations have been reported to show the effectiveness of the proposed approach.
