Abstract
This paper presents a permanent magnet (PM) linear synchronous motor with special geometry. The motor designing has few teeth, short pitch, simple structure as well as good performances. The thrust forces in static state has completely been analyzed and tested in many cases. Thrust forces are calculated at different positions and currents. Experiment results are presented for many situations also. It is confirmed according to the comparison results between simulating and experiment that these results are successful. The motor, which has high thrust force, little ripple force, little volume and mass, will be used in direct drive areas.
