Abstract
In this paper, a stand-alone variable speed wind power generation system is proposed using a vector-controlled cage-type induction generator. The d-axis current component supplies the machine excitation and the q-axis current component produces the torque to control the machine speed. The machine speed is controlled to track the maximum output power point according to varying wind speeds. The generated power is stored into the battery bank on the dc side of the PWM converter. The dc power can be converted as ac supply by the PWM inverter. The experimental results at laboratory are provided.
