Abstract
This paper presents the using of nonlinear time-stepped finite element method to simulate the switching inrush current of dry type half-iron-core reactors. A 3-D field-circuit coupling model which couples the finite element electromagnetic equations with the electrical circuit equations excited by voltage source is proposed. The effectiveness of the model is shown by two examples of applications. The characteristics of dry type reactors switching inrush current have been discussed.
