Abstract
For the doubly salient permanent magnet (DSPM) motor drive, it is difficult to get satisfied control characteristics by using normal linear PI controller due to the high nonlinearity between speed and current or torque. Hence, an integral-separated self-tuning fuzzy PI controller, which is performed by single chip N87C196KD, is proposed. The initial parameters of the controller are optimized by using genetic arithmetic. Both the theoretical simulation and the experiments on a prototype machine have shown that the proposed integral-separated self-tuning fuzzy PI controller offers better adaptability, and that the developed DSPM motor drive offers good steady state and dynamic performance.
