  • Abstract
In this paper we developed an algorithm that supports multiple classes of traffic with different QoS (quality of service) guarantee to manage the bandwidth allocation in wireless networks. This is achieved by reserving bandwidth for delay sensitive handoff traffic to the three adjacent cells, one of these is the destination expected. The amount of bandwidth to be reserved in three adjacent cells is not more than one half of these available. This method was evaluated by computer simulation. Then, we compare the results with other two schemes such as a bandwidth reservation in the surrounding cells scheme and a no bandwidth reservation scheme. The results show that our proposed scheme has made the delay sensitive traffic call dropping lower than the other two schemes. It provides higher reserved bandwidth utilization and lower call blocking than a bandwidth reservation in the surrounding cells scheme. It achieves the call blocking probability nearly the same as no bandwidth reservation scheme while guarantee QoS requirements of all the users.
