Abstract :
The performance of a modified Diffserv router serving MPEG video traffic over the Internet will be studied. By treating this video stream as assured service, and using the original Diffserv configuration, it was found that the packets from the I-frames were preferentially dropped over the other frame types. Separate token buckets for each frame type were proposed to alleviate this problem, and drastic improvements in performance were achieved.
