Abstract :
Neodymium doped tantalum pentoxide waveguides were fabricated by RF sputtering from a Nd doped Ta2O5 target. Waveguide losses, absorption spectra, fluorescence spectra and excited-state lifetime were measured, and show promise for realisation of waveguide lasers.
