Abstract :
The microlens, which can correct the elliptical and astigmatic laser diode beam, cannot be applied to optical storage and communications, because it generates frequency and intensity fluctuations and degrades the laser diode reliability. A novel miniature correcting lens is proposed, which corrects the laser diode beam and produces no frequency and intensity fluctuations, and no degradation of the laser diode reliability. It can significantly increase the coupling efficiency between laser diode and fiber, and produce better laser spot on optical disk.
