Abstract :
A novel on-line power monitoring scheme is demonstrated in a single-mode fiber in which the light is first coupled from the core mode to the cladding mode by an all-fiber acousto-optic tunable filter and then coupled to an InGaAs p-i-n photodetector bonded to the fiber. Detection efficiency for different cladding modes and fiber cladding diameters are presented. The on-fiber detector is successfully implemented in an all-fiber spectrometer.
