Planning the information system for transferring, archiving and viewing medical images at Centro Nacional de Rehabilitacion in Mexico

The growing amount of medical images at Centro Nacional de Rehabilitacion (CNR) has generated problems manipulating them. This has led us to develop a DICOM compliant information system to face new procedures that will make the radiology department offer better services to the hospital. Because the system complexity is high we have applied a development process named TSPi^SM, which works in cycles, and seven steps compose each cycle. At the moment we have accomplished two steps of the first cycle. The results of our advance are showed in this work where we have obtained a concrete strategy and planning to meet our goals. The results reached have allowed us to distribute clear activities on the development team and obtain the necessary documentation to work at the next steps and cycles until we reach a complete PACS system.
